Have your eyes become scratchy and irritated? Do they become intermittently blurred? If so, you may have dry eye syndrome. We recommend that you see our owner and optometrist, Dr. Zubair Khan, for a comprehensive eye exam at our Fort Wayne Vision practice; at our vision practice you can be properly diagnosed and if necessary receive Fort Wayne severe dry eye treatment.

Many people have problems with dry eye. Dry eye can occur at any age, but it is particularly common in people over 60. Additionally, many people have problems with dry eye in the winter months when the air is particularly dry, and indoor heating can make homes and offices especially drying to eyes, as well. Our optometrist will be able to diagnose your dry eye situation, and let you know if you need Fort Wayne severe dry eye treatment. There are several different treatment options that can be provided for patients with dry eye. Dry eye occurs when a patient’s eyes do not produce enough tears, or a high enough quality of tears, to keep the eyes lubricated and healthy. In very mild cases of dry eye, over-the-counter artificial tear solutions may be all that is needed to keep your eyes healthy. In cases of mild to moderate dry eye our optometrist may prescribe eye drops which will keep your eyes well-lubricated and in good condition. In severe cases of dry eye, eye surgery may be needed to solve the problem. Some patients are helped by surgery that places removable tiny plugs in the patient’s tear ducts so that tears will stay in the eyes longer. In the most severe cases of dry eye, patients may need to have an operation during which the patient’s tear ducts are permanently closed.
